New system to know everything about water resources in Chile

Chile Spanish

Experts in Chile created an intelligent system to know in real time everything related to the flow of rivers, the snow available in the Andes, the state of the ground water (underground layers of water) and local temperatures.

The method, new in Chile, is currently used in the O'Higgins region and internationally there are few references, one of which is the "Agroclimnate" platform, which operates in the State of Florida, in the United States.

The system, called the Bank of Information on Water Resources (BIRH), which is available for different mobile platforms and as a website, is not only useful for producers, but also for other actors, such as the authorities of the O'Higgins region. , located about 100 kilometers south of the Chilean capital.

Experts told Efe that the IWRM is the result of the "Water Resources Information Management" project, developed by the Water Center of the University of Concepción and financed by the Regional Government of O'Higgins through the Innovation Fund for Competitiveness and with the support of the General Directorate of Water (DGA).
